Newsletter Spring 2008
The start of our third season of opening will soon be upon us, as Easter comes early this year. The gardens open on Good Friday March 21st Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, with fun for all the family.
Once again the ever popular FREE Easter Egg hunt for the kids which was enjoyed so much by all who took part last year will be on offer also a Children’s Train ride (extra charge) will be available for their enjoyment. For our not so younger customers we have 70 acres of beautiful gardens with four miles of paths, many of which are tarmac, helping make it more wheelchair user friendly. We also have plants for sale, a gift shop and tearoom serving light lunches, afternoon teas and famously delicious homemade cakes. The buggy tour with commentary of the gardens history and conservation has become extremely popular and A MUST DO attraction and is available to visitors for an extra charge (advance booking recommended).
We received a great response from the latest TV programme featuring the gardens, which was televised for ITV ‘Country Lives’ series and presented by gardening expert Chris Beardshaw in October 2007. The gardens have also benefited from many complimentary articles in journals and magazines.
Forthcoming features to look out for are the March edition of the local THE NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE MAGAZINE and the RHS THE GARDEN recommended ‘Gardens to Visit’ April edition.
This year again we are pleased to offer the use of the gardens for Charity Open Days , including evening openings on May 14th and October 8th for The National Gardens Scheme, while the N.S.P.C.C will be holding a fund raiser in the Halcyon Room on Saturday April 26th. As usual we are proud to be supporting one of our local churches St John’s the Baptist with their annual church fete, which this year will be held on Saturday June 21st (make a note in your diary for that one). While on the subject of local connections we have been approached by St John’s primary school to visit the gardens in a creative partnership project to study and photograph the gardens and it’s features, we were very pleased to have been considered and more than happy to help.
Thank you for visiting our web site and we will be in touch with you soon.
